Gutter cleaning is an essential service that we offer at the Fresh Rinse of Belle Terre. As we enter late fall – early winter, we’ve helped customers in Ormond Beach, Palm Coast, and St Augustine maintain their gutter systems. As leaves, pine needles and acorns drop in early fall, they collect on your roof and make their way into your gutters. And then when a rain comes, it starts to push that debris towards the downspouts (exactly how it is designed).
The problem occurs when the debris level exceeds the downspouts ability to ‘process’ it. Pine needles tend to clump up, like micro hay stacks and eventually create a blockage (usually starting around the downspout opening). Leaves then pack in on top of the pine needle stack and the rest is history.
So, the questions remains: How often should you clean out your gutters?
Usually, in our neck of the woods in Flagler County we seem homes that need a good clean out usually between 3 and 6 months. That may seem like a headache, but not if you hire a pro. Our team makes light work and handles your system with care.
Our process is simple:
- Assess the problem areas (if necessary we will even blow off the roof)
- Clear all debris from gutter system and bag it up* (leaving no trace of debris)
- Clear out downspouts of any debris
- Flow test the gutters – we use a hose to flow water through the entire system to ensure there are no blockages anywhere
*We usually do this by hand and/or hand tools (scoops and poles), but at times we may deem it necessary to use a vacuum system or a blower to clear certain blockages.
